Raising Awareness And Funding

What We Do

The Ed Block Courage Award Foundation provides each of the 27 members of the National Courage House Network supporting abused, neglected and at-risk youth with monetary and gift-in-kind donations along with various needed services to help advance their mission. Each program is provided exclusive grant opportunities along with inclusion in our digital content to promote awareness for their mission. Over the past five years, we have donated over $200,000 and more than $20,000 in memorabilia for fundraising to our community partners.

Through our various fundraising efforts throughout the year including various events, online auctions and sponsorships, our goal is to provide each Courage House with financial and gift-in-kind support that they desperately could use to help support those most in need.

Year-round NFL Team Support

Each NFL team coordinates with its affiliated Courage House throughout the year, lending support through various avenues including hosting and attending fundraising events by providing memorabilia and experiences for auctions and raffles, organizing player visits and inviting youth to team activities. Additionally, they provide monetary support by donating gifts-in-kind for needy children among many other ways to enhance their welfare.

Ed Block Courage Awards

Annually, the Ed Block Foundation honors one player from each NFL team who is voted by their peers [teammates] for their courage and inspiration with the Ed Block Courage Award. The recipients stand as role models for their ability to overcome adversity while also serving their respective communities. Throughout the year they are included in our virtual content, highlighting their accomplishments on and off the field.

Courage Awards Ceremony

Ed Block Courage Award recipients travel to Baltimore each spring to participate in several events including the Ed Block Celebration and VIP Sponsor Brunch. The visit concludes with a special Courage Awards Ceremony and a St. Vincent’s Villa Community Outreach with the abused children of the Baltimore Ravens Courage House presenting the players with their trophies.
