Shortly after signing with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent in 2021, Curry was diagnosed with a rare condition which resulted in the removal of his spleen. Although he missed the entire 2021 season, Curry credits his doctors, athletic trainers, teammates, family and friends for helping him persevere and return even stronger.
Curry embodies a player who has persevered through adversity with a contagious sense of energy and leadership that has made him a mentor to younger teammates, even when he could not contribute on the field. Curry played a key role on the Jets top five ranked defense last season, contributing to a unit which held opponents to an 80.5 passer rating, the second-best in the NFL and one of only two teams to keep all opposing passers under 275 passing yards in each of their games.
