2024 Courage Award Winner

DeMarvion Overshown

2024 Ed Block Courage Award Winner

Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown was voted by his Dallas Cowboys teammates as the club’s 2024 Ed Block Courage Award winner. The award honors those National Football League players who exemplify commitments to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Overshown, along with the 31 other recipients, will be honored in April at the 46th Annual Ed Block Courage Awards in Baltimore, Md.

After suffering a torn ACL in his left knee during a preseason game in his 2023 rookie season, Overshown spent his entire rookie campaign recovering and rehabbing to prepare himself for his debut in 2024.

Despite the injury and overcoming the long road of rehab, Overshown persevered and used the challenge he faced as motivation. He made his NFL debut, starting the 2024 Week 1 season opener and finished the year starting 12 of the 13 games he played. Overshown became the heart and soul of the Dallas Cowboys defense and racked up 95 tackles, 5.0 sacks, three tackles for loss, 16 pressures, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, four pass breakups and an interception he returned 23 yards for a touchdown. His tackle total was second on the team and both his sack total and tackles for loss total tied for second on the team. All of this came in just 13 games before he suffered another devastating season-ending injury to his right knee.

Having yet another hurdle to overcome with his latest injury will not be a challenge for Overshown as he fully embodies the spirit of the Ed Block Courage Award.
