Travis Etienne Jr. just finished his second season with the Jaguars after being drafted in the first round (25th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He missed his entire rookie season in 2021 after he suffered a Lisfranc injury in a preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Before the start of the 2022 season, Etienne was asked what his road to recovery had been like. “I would say the day to day. I had to fall in love with the mundane, so I would say just waking up every day knowing that where you want to be, you’re not going to get there today and just put in that work,” Etienne said. “I would say just fall in love with the mundane.” He worked his way into the starting lineup and led the Jaguars in rushing with 1,125 yards on 220 carries after appearing in all 17 regular season games and two postseason games. He added five rushing touchdowns, including a career-long 62-yard touchdown run against Houston in Week 18. He was integral part of a resurgent year for the Jaguars, a season in which they made the playoffs for the first time in five years. Since his first day in training camp practice after injury, he was willing to go full force and take hits, inspiring his teammates to go into the new season with a new fire inside them.
