About Us

Gateway Longview (GL) is a non-profit human services organization established in 1890 that provides comprehensive programming focused on behavioral health, community-based services, residential treatment, and special education programs to over 5,000 children and families annually throughout Western New York (WNY). As a non-profit agency, GL’s mission is to work together to protect, to give hope, and to enrich the lives of every child and family served.

Through 18 initiatives, GL serves youth and families throughout the eight counties of WNY. Our continuum of care includes: behavioral health clinics, foster care and adoption, residential services, therapeutic supervised visitation, home-based preventive services, supervised independent living programs, a K-12 day school and a therapeutic pre-school program. GL serves children and families of varied race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Children in care range from birth to age 21 and commonly struggle with social, emotional, developmental and behavioral challenges. GL believes that a trauma-informed care approach has the ability to strengthen the knowledge, competencies, skill sets, and engagement as we work with individuals impacted by trauma.

The Residential Services program works with at-risk and hard-to-serve youth ages 11-21 struggling with behavioral, social and emotional challenges. Youth enrolled are provided 24 hours a day support, counseling and care through structured educational schedules, therapeutic activities and recreation that help build suitable life-skills as youth work toward the ultimate goal of returning to a safe home environment. The numbers of residential youth living on campus fluctuate throughout the year but usually range between 20-30 youth on campus at a time. Our residential care facilities on our Main Street Campus in Williamsville, NY are comprised of several units, one of those being the Buffalo Bills Courage House, which cares for up to 24 youth at one time. GL’s dedicated treatment team of clinical social workers, mental health counselors, residential counselors, and direct care staff focus on the overall well-being and advancement of all youth in care.
