Miami Dolphins - 2021 PFATS Athletic Trainers of the Year
Following the conclusion of the 2021 NFL season, the Miami Dolphins Athletic Training staff was named the recipient of the 2021 Ed Block NFL Athletic Training Staff of the Year. Much like other NFL Medical Staffs, the Dolphin’s staff met numerous challenges during the 2021 season.
They once again helped their organization maneuver the obstacles of yet another season dealing with COVID-19, while also sharing their learnings with others in the NFL Medical community to help better serve players across the entire league. Their staff members are also involved with the NFL/NFLPA COVID Task Force, the NFL Combine Task Force, the NFL Diversity Committee and the Professional Football Athletic Trainer’s Society Executive Committee. Despite the season’s challenge and in addition to the extra efforts of their committee work, they continued to stay committed to the health and well-being of their Coaches, Staff and Players.
Their work, combined with the collaborative efforts from other organizational departments, helped the Dolphins have only one starter that played in their first regular season game but was not available for the final game of the season. This is what earned them this distinct recognition.
Kyle Johnston has been with the Dolphins since 2018 as the Head Athletic Trainer. His staff includes Troy Maurer (30th season), Nao Inoue (12th season), Jon Boone (4th season) & Jasmin Grimes (1st season). Josh Sanders & Todd Henry served as seasonal staff assistants and played an integral role during the season.
The Miami Dolphins were also named recipients of the 2006 award.
