Hamler was selected by his teammates for his approach and dedication to the rehab process after suffering a season-ending knee and hip injury on Sept. 26, 2021. He spent the entire offseason rehabbing a torn ACL in his left knee and a hip repair. Any one of these injuries can threaten a players ability to return to playing in the NFL, but overcoming both of these injuries was nothing short of amazing. It was KJ’s courage and professionalism that allowed him to overcome these difficult times and return to playing the game at a high level.
Selected by Denver in the second round (46th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft from Penn State University, Hamler has recorded 42 receptions for 620 yards (14.8 avg.) with three touchdowns and 11 rushes for 63 yards (5.7 avg.). In 23 career games played, Hamler has totaled eight receptions for 25+ yards, including four of at least 45 yards.
