Tyler Larsen has been voted the 2024 Washington Commanders Ed Block Courage Award Recipient. Tyler just completed his 10th season in the NFL after entering as an undrafted free-agent coming out of Utah State University in 2014. Throughout Tyler’s career he has faced adversity and obstacles both on and off the field. Most recently, Tyler was coming off of back to back season ending injuries. In 2021 he suffered a torn achillies tendon mid-way through the season. After rehabbing diligently and returning in 2022 for year 9 in the NFL, Tyler’s season was again cut short by a knee injury, requiring him to have his 2nd surgery in as many years. He was faced with the difficult task of rehabbing yet another injury throughout the entire off-season. Circumstances surrounding his age and injury status over the last couple years were of concern, but Tyler persevered and was determined to return for his 10thNFL season in 2023. During the 2023 season, Tyler was an instrumental player for the Commanders, revered as a veteran leader, and called upon to start at center in 7 contests. For his excellent work ethic during his rehabs in two consecutive off-seasons, and returning to complete his 10th year in the NFL as a veteran leader, Tyler was voted by his teammates as the 2024 Washington Commanders Ed Block Courage Award Recipient.
